“There aren’t that many of them”…

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

I had a dear friend over for dinner last night.  Time has done its typical relentless march and before we knew it, a year had passed since we last got together.  In our effort to catch up on what was happening in each others lives, as you might well imagine the topic of my research and writing came up (and stayed up) for a fair portion of the evening.

It started out with Palin and what my opinion is as to why she resigned; then on to the GOP and what does it matter seeing as how they lost by a landslide; then my friend said, “I don’t have time to follow all this, and there aren’t that many of them anyway!”  How disheartening… So where was I going to begin without turning our evening into a lecture series?  It is a tough one.  But I had no choice.

head in sandOne of the biggest problems for us, and a positive for the extremists, is our disbelief and overwhelm.  They rely on us essentially ignoring the information and activities right in front of us for a variety of reasons; 1)  we really don’t want to hear about it because it is too disturbing; 2)  if we were to pay attention to it – just what are we supposed to DO with this information? 3)  our lives are so busy we don’t have time to pay attention to all this nonsense – and as she said – there aren’t that many of them anyway.

I hear her!  As I sit here writing today, it is perfect outside, 70s, sunny and I can think of a hundred other things I would rather be doing than having to write about these extremists.  And granted, my devotion to informing others about these fanatics requires considerably more time than is necessary for the rest of us to be modestly informed and stay aware.  I am really not expecting everyone to become an activist.  I am hoping that people will at minimum recognize the face of Dominionism when it is right in front of them and not dismiss it.

they-walk-among-usFor example, this friend of mine has a main business partner that she works along side everyday that is a born-again, evangelical extremists and attends services faithfully at a local dominionist church.  She avoids conversations with him but doesn’t recognize that he is exactly the type of ‘c’hristian that belongs to these indoctrinated congregations.

I explained to her that he is the embodiment of what I am talking about.  I have met and spent time with her business partner so I am not making a generalized statement based on stereo-types.

She was raised catholic and remembers a conversation not long ago where he had never heard of “lent” and chalked it up to “oh, those Catholics”.  I pointed out that this is typical.  Often times these born-agains have a myopic view of the Bible as taught to them from repeated specific versus – over and over again – without understanding context, NOR having any other concept of how their beliefs fit into a world view of Christianity or (god forbid) other religious ideologies!

It is a faith of rhetoric and rote memorization.  That is an equation for dangerous blind followers and total immersion.  What does this produce?  People like her partner who can’t defend his beliefs other than pointing to the (revised Zondervan Publishing version, NIV) Bible and saying “it’s all in there”, yet lacking the knowledge of what that really even means.  In a word?  Brainwashing!

sheeples2

Their own movement places the numbers at approximately 30-35% of the population and growing.  They go on to proudly claim that the leadership in their movement – who are the only ones truly in “the know” – consist of about 3-5% of THAT population, but they aim to emulate the “jihadists” and grow that to 10% where they will cause a “tipping point” and create a Christian State.  Okey-dokey!

Which brought me to the next point in our conversation last night, which is that many in the congregations aren’t even aware of the fine points of the End Times/Apocalyptic agenda pursued by the leadership/salesmen…yet they are equally as responsible in their contributions and complicity.  The Sheeples…

The population of the United States currently stands at 304 million people.  So when we do the math – they claim a following of any where between 91 – 106 million.  Our numbers are far more conservative and have placed their Sheeple numbers between 50 – 80 million.  Either way, this is a substantial number of people who subscribe to this “faith”!

“There aren’t that many of them” will echo in my head for the rest of the afternoon while I mow my lawn and wonder what can I do differently?  What can WE do differently?  It is not enough to reach one person at a time…

I gave her a signed copy of “TheoPalinism – The Face of Failed Extremism” as she was leaving…and she readily accepted and looks forward to reading it.  It does carry an introductory message to this craziness and I wish I could afford to mail it out randomly and get it in as many hands as possible…but with that idea off the table I am open to others!  I am ALL ears my friends…please share your thoughts.

Response to “This is NOT a CON CON!”…Geez! She doesn’t have to yell…

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

I received 2 interesting “comments” today that I am going to share with you by pasting the verbiage from Sandra Yeager’s rant at me about my posts on her letter sending out a rallying cry to “her churches”.  Below is the ‘comment’ that she posted to BOTH of my blog articles “Fellow Christians?“ and “Con Con”:

“My name is Sandra Yeager. I am the state coordinator of the We the People Foundation that drafted the church letter up for discussion. This letter was sent to my church affiliates to notify them of the Continental Congress 2009, which is being held in November to grant us all relief from any law that violates our liberty and the Constitution. The We the People Foundation has filed numerous lawsuits against our government for the past twenty years for violating the constitution. We have served the government with eighteen (18) petitions for redress for grievances since 1995, not just since the election.

A Continental Congress has only taken place once in history, in 1774. It’s time to do it again. The first one gave us our founding documents which gave us the experience of freedom like the world has never known. The next one in November of this year has the sole purpose of holding the governmental accountable to the people for their violations of the Constitution. We are reaching out to constitutional scholars all over America. Their religious status is not a qualification. These delegates will be nominated and elected by the people of their state.

As my alleged hate letter clearly states, if you know someone that is a constitutional scholar, please nominate them on the website to be a delegate. I have strict religious beliefs, as does my church. In America, that is our right. It’s called freedom of religion. I also have a right to send an email to my church affiliates about my thoughts, it’s called free speech. The same 1st amendment right allows you to scrutinize my letter. Isn’t freedom wonderful? We live in a country like none other, and we need to keep it that way. If we don’t agree, we can just disagree.

A Constitutional Convention is a convention called by members of Congress (government elected officials) to change or amend the constitution. We definitely do not want any part of that, nor are we members of Congress that would have any authority to do so. We believe our founding documents are already perfect, and us religious extremists even go as far as to say they were endowed by our Creator.

Our intentions are very well explained in this slide show presentation:

Finally, as this letter was not sent to any of you, please realize that there was no cramming down your throat intended. I certainly hope this clears things up. THIS IS NOT A CON-CON!

In Liberty,

Sandra Yeager”

Alrrriiiighttyyy then!  Phew!  That clears it all up for me…how ’bout you???

Especially all that gobbley-gook in the middle.  Of course I had to go to my number one “go-to”, Alex and below are the emails we had discussing this clarification:

a) This is classic CYA astroturfing.
b) Despite her claims, what is being proposed is a de facto ConCon,
and the groups associated with it are uniformly dominionist and
right-wing groups linked to “Christian patriot” militias (as noted in
previous mails).
c) That crap at the end is VERY poorly formed HTML, where they tried
to link to a document on Scribd which was again a CYA attempt to make
a de facto ConCon not seeming like a ConCon.

And furthermore….

It starts out by essentially claiming the government usurped its

authority including calls for “tea parties” (common in “Christian
patriot” circles),  goes on to the “we are a republic, and not a
democracy” rant (more properly, the US as operates now IS a
representative democracy, rather than a direct democracy–up to and
including claiming the difference is that “democracy is two wolves and
a sheep voting for dinner, with a republic the sheep has a gun”),
calling for steeplejacking of government (from astroturfing city and
county council meetings to steeplejacking state political party
conventions to becoming “expert witnesses” in legislative committees
to explicit recruitment to join “Christian Patriot” militia orgs to
running for office), promotion of the wonderful “Patriot” bogosity
known as “jury nullification” (VERY widely promoted in “Christian
patriot” communities), claims straight out of Posse Comitatus
(claiming county sheriffs have more authority than the President), fun
with “State’s Rights” bogosity, claims that the government was
established as a Christian nation, Bircher claims that the entire US
government was essentially usurped by “bankers” at a “secret meeting”
in 1910 (not noted is that “bankers” has historically been a Bircher
codeword for the Jewish people)…pretty much this is the typical
“Christian Patriot” screed.

Okay…follow me on this…here is the “gobbly-gook that Sandra tried to post for us to clear things up:

As an aside, this is the document she tried to link to w/o success:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/17599422/CC2009-is-Your-Civic-Duty

Since this is a slide show and not a video, you will have to click on the link to view this. So what she is trying to tell me is that this is simply a letter that was meant to go out to her church affiliations, not me, and that they are firm believers in the Constitution as it was created by our Founders.

The disparity comes in when you examine that they seek to right a wrong by correcting the perceived loss of constitutional freedoms.  They also appear to have a true sense that there was an inherent joining of church and state in the name of the ‘c’hristian god that they have determined is the only path to salvation.

Given their coziness with ‘patriot militia’ ideologies, I think my next post will have to be a discussion of the vigilante activity of organized private militias such as the corporation formerly known as “Blackwater” – now known as “Xe”…

And the story continues…

“Values Voters”? Which VALUES are those? …and here comes Sarah!

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

  • Ken Blackwell Ken Blackwell is the Senior Fellow for Family Empowerment at the Family Research Council, and the Ronald Reagan Distinguished Fellow for Public Policy at the Buckeye Institute in Columbus, Ohio.  Blackwell is a evangelical dominiionist that “accidentally” released Social security numbers of approximately 7 million Ohio residents not once – but twice!  And ONE of the lawsuits filed against him was over disenfranchisemenet of voters and suspiscion of foul play in the Ohio vote count during Dubya’s prez run.

  • Jim Daly el presidente and God’s self-appointed CEO of Focus on the Family – who surprise, surprise – resides in Colorado Springs – Ground Zero for the “Chosen Ones”…
  • Sen. Jim DeMint He’s just an abomination – latest DeMint quote?  Remember now, he is a loving, caring, kind Christian…”‘If we’re able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him.”  Isn’t it nice to know that his heart is there for all of us who are screaming out for Health Care reform?  What an asshole!
  • Lou Dobbs Obsessively, fixated, consumed by his hatred toward immigrants…and how to keep them out.  He was born in Texas, and later lived in Arizona…hence the hatred of Mexicans.  But does he feel the same way about Canadians?  After all, he lived in Idaho too – and that’s another border state!
  • Ed Feulner Head Sanctimonious Hancho over at the Heritage Foundation who profit very nicely on the backs of Sheeples who fund their ongoing efforts to train interns to fellowship in congress and work to MARRY CHURCH & STATE!
  • Sean Hannity a waste of space
  • David Horowitz Chip Berlet accused Horowitz of blaming slavery on “‘black Africans … abetted by dark-skinned Arabs’” and of “attack[ing] minority ‘demands for special treatment’ as ‘only necessary because some blacks can’t seem to locate the ladder of opportunity within reach of others,’ rejecting the idea that they could be the victims of lingering racism.”  Ugh!
  • Gov. Mike Huckabee Another “Man of God” who believes that Jesus taught intolerance and a GOP 2012 PD hopeful who doesn’t know whether to kiss Palin’s ass or kick it.
  • Brit Hume An “ardent Christian” and contributed to the start-up and ’success’ of that lovely Fox News channel that helps all these characters dissiminate hatred, intolerance fear and loathing of all who are not “chosen” and born-again.
  • Dr. Ken Hutchenson Buddies with the Latvian group “Watchmen on the Walls” anti-homosexual hate organization that promotes violence against gays.  Now THAT’s Christian!

  • Sen. Mitch McConnell …PD…Party of “No”
  • Kevin McCullough McCullough’s bio says he has “been called the heir apparent to Dobson and Falwell, by America’s most prolific faith-based writers,” – heady claim.  He clearly has no issues with his opinion of himself.  The guy hates gays…plain and simple and believes AIDS is God’s wrath against homosexuals….nice….
  • Ed Meese He currently holds fellowships and chairmanships with several public policy councils and think tanks, including the Constitution Project and the Heritage Foundation…and he was one of Reagan’s evangelical legal beagles.
  • Kate O’Beirne A conservative “talking head” who wrote, “Women Who Make the World Worse: and How Their Radical Feminist Assault Is Ruining Our Schools, Families, Military, and Sports”.  WOW!  Those feminists!
  • Bill O’Reilly …whatever
  • Gov. Sarah Palin What?  A speaking engagement?  Who woulda thunk?
  • Star Parker Parker became a Christian and subsequently became a spokesperson for related political issues.  After ending up on welfare as a teen mom, she claims that it is an oppressive program that makes slaves of its recipients and specifically black women…how nice that she was able to benefit from it – and now stumps against it in an effort to deprive others from the help it provides.
  • Gov. Tim Pawlentyanother GOP 2012 PD hopeful
  • Rep. Mike Pence Oh look!  Here is yet another GOP 2012 PD hopeful
  • Tony Perkins Tony Perkins is President of the Washington, D.C.-based Family Research Council.  Since joining FRC in the fall of 2003 he has launched new initiatives to affirm and defend the Judeo-Christian values that this nation is founded upon.  Another one that asserts that America was founded as a Judeo-Christian nation and twists the words and meanings of the founding fathers…
  • Gov. Rick Perry Palin’s seccessionist pal and all around boob
  • Carrie Prejean Malibu Barbie…why in the hell is she even a speaker?  Of course that can be asked about everyone of these players…what am I thinking?
  • Gov. Mitt Romney I wonder when Mitt will be let in on the secret (not) that born-again ‘c’hristians view him as worthless as the rest of us who refuse to convert before the Rapture?
  • Joel Rosenberg Touts himself as a story writer of events he claims are biblically based that have an uncanny way of happening after his books are written.  Born-again evangelical from a jewish heritage and total “End Times is jsut around the corner” guy.
  • Lila Rose A student journalist from UCLA and anti-choice crusader Lila Rose has devoted her considerable media savvy to depriving other women of their reproductive rights.  Why do they believe that they have the right to interfere in others lives?  The arrogance is nauseating.
  • Phyllis Schlafly The woman who made a career out of crusading against women who have careers – while leaving her children to be cared by others, while she chastised working mothers for not being home with their children – and made a very handsome living along the way. Can you say hyp-o-crite?
  • Gary Sinise I will never watch CSI again…
  • Ben SteinLove of God and compassion and empathy leads you to a very glorious place, and science leads you to killing people.”  He is pro-life, anti-evolution, smug and lives between Malibu, CA and Sandpoint, Idaho…HEY!  Sarah Palin’s hometown…and the once hub of the most racist neo-nazis in America.  Interesting for a man whose Jewish relatives suffered under Hitler.
  • Mark Steyn “Steyn, a self-styled ‘right-wing bastard,’ violates everyone’s sense of good taste.”  He is a canadian mouth piece that pokes his crass and vulgar opinions into U.S. politics.  For example, he states he is attracted to Sarah Palin’s “naughty librarian vibe”.   TMI!  (Too much information)
  • Fred Thompson Worst DA on Law & Order, and cannot think outside a script…laughable
  • Eduardo Verastegui A Mexican actor (uh-oh Lou Dobbs); anti-choice; anti-gay (and he is so pretty too!); and again – why is he speaking?
  • Don Wildmon Wildmon founded the National Federation for Decency in 1977, and it was renamed the American Family Association in 1988.  Plainly, he is a prude and speaks out against everything and anything he deems offensive such as TV shows like MASH, Three’s Company and Dallas all of yesteryear, Madonna, and on and on.  He was a Methodist Pastor and left the pastoral ministry to campaign against pornography and violence in the media.  Just look at the guy…

And as an added bonus…just to make sure that they stir the FEAR and PARANOIA in the sheeples that attend they are going to have a special preview screening of their movie “33 Minutes”.  I have attached their 2 minute trailer for you…

An event that any red-blooded bigoted, intolerant, rascist, anti-choice, anti-feminist, Poltical Dominionist, End Times believer, born-again evangelical has just got to put on their calendars as a MUST ATTEND!

So when anyone tells you that these extremists aren’t rallying to aggressively take back seats in 2010 and relentlessly pursuit the White House in 2012…you had better tell them to WAKE UP!   This is no joke, even if they are individually….

The American Taliban (a partial list)…With Christians Like This – WHO Needs Enemies?!

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Sometimes linking a site just doesn’t give me the same satisfaction as truly sharing with you!  Plus I can’t add my own 2 cents that way.  This is a remarkable list and not only are they disgustingly arrogant and sanctimonious in their judgement of others, but look closely at the identities of these ‘folks’…have you seen them grouped elsewhere?  Together?  On this very site – for example?

Yep!  Refer to “Grand Ol’ Party”! I Don’t Think That’s What They Meant…” that I posted in June (which by the way it is time to add the newest 10 mug shots to that post and re-post the updates already!)

It’s kinda like playing “Where’s Waldo?”, or a version of Sesame Street’s “which one of these things belongs with the other?”  See if you can identify how many of these bigoted, homophobic, anti-EVERYONE else-extremists are in the list of pedophiles, adulterers and child porn fans from my previous post!

I just can’t help but add to THIS list as well…and I will…soon.  I have to get to the other gallery and add to it first!  It may help to pour a glass of wine or other drink of your choice to read this…I did!

Quotes from the The American Taliban produced by staff/faculty/students at the University of California @ San Diego (California)

Ann Coulter

“We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren’t punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That’s war. And this is war.”

“Not all Muslims may be terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims.”

“Being nice to people is, in fact, one of the incidental tenets of Christianity, as opposed to other religions whose tenets are more along the lines of ‘kill everyone who doesn’t smell bad and doesn’t answer to the name Mohammed’”

Bailey Smith

“With all due respect to those dear people, my friend, God Almighty does not hear the prayer of a Jew.”

Beverly LaHaye (Concerned Women for America)

“Yes, religion and politics do mix. America is a nation based on biblical principles. Christian values dominate our government. The test of those values is the Bible. Politicians who do not use the bible to guide their public and private lives do not belong in office.”

Bob Dornan (Rep. R-CA)

“Don’t use the word ‘gay’ unless it’s an acronym for ‘Got Aids Yet’”

David Barton (Wallbuilders)

“There should be absolutely no ‘Separation of Church and State’ in America.”

David Trosch

“Sodomy is a graver sin than murder. – Unless there is life there can be no murder.”

Fob James (Governor of Alabama)

“Behind this judicial wall of separation there is a tyranny of lies that will fall… I say to you, my friends, let it fall!”

“A good butt-whipping and then a prayer is a wonderful remedy.”

Fred Phelps (Westboro Baptist Church)

“If you got to castrate your miserable self with a piece of rusty barb wire, do it.”

“Hear the word of the LORD, America, fag-enablers are worse than the fags themselves, and will be punished in the everlasting lake of fire!”

“You telling these miserable, Hell-bound, bath house-wallowing, anal-copulating fags that God loves them!? You have bats in the belfry!”

“American Veterans are to blame for the fag takeover of this nation. They have the power in their political lobby to influence the zeitgeist, get the fags out of the military, and back in the closet where they belong!”

“Not only is homosexuality a sin, but anyone who supports fags is just as guilty as they are. You are both worthy of death.”

Gary Bauer (American Values)

“We are engaged in a social, political, and cultural war. There’s a lot of talk in America about pluralism. But the bottom line is somebody’s values will prevail. And the winner gets the right to teach our children what to believe.”

Gary North (Institute for Christian Economics)

“The long-term goal of Christians in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of God by submitting to His Church’s public marks of the covenant–baptism and holy communion–must be denied citizenship.”

“This is God’s world, not Satan’s. Christians are the lawful heirs, not non-Christians.”

Gary Potter (Catholics for Christian Political Action)

“When the Christian majority takes over this country, there will be no satanic churches, no more free distribution of pornography, no more talk of rights for homosexuals. After the Christian majority takes control, pluralism will be seen as immoral and evil and the state will not permit anybody the right to practice evil.”

George Bush Sr. (President of the United States)

“I don’t know that atheists should be considered citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.”

George W. Bush (President of the United States)

“I don’t think that witchcraft is a religion. I wish the military would rethink this decision.”*

“God told me to strike at al Qaida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them.”

“Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.”

“This crusade, this war on terrorism is going to take a while.”

*Comment about Wiccans in the military

Henry Morris (Founder, Institute for Creation Research, died 2006)

“When science and the Bible differ, science has obviously misinterpreted its data.”

J. B. Stoner (White Supremacist) (1924 – 2005)

“We had lost the fight for the preservation of the white race until God himself intervened in earthly affairs with AIDS to rescue and preserve the white race that he had created…. I praise God all the time for AIDS.”

“AIDS is a racial disease of Jews and Niggers, and fortunately it is wiping out the queers. I guess God hates queers for several reasons. There is one big reason to be against queers and that is because every time some white boy is seduced by a queer into becoming a queer, means his white bloodline has run out.”

James Dobson (Focus on the Family)

“Those who control the access to the minds of children will set the agenda for the future of the nation and the future of the western world.”

“State Universities are breeding grounds, quite literally, for sexually transmitted diseases (including HIV), homosexual behavior, unwanted pregnancies, abortions, alcoholism, and drug abuse.”

“Today’s children… They’re damned. They’re gone.”

James Kennedy (Center for Reclaiming America)

“The Christian community has a golden opportunity to train an army of dedicated teachers who can invade the public school classrooms and use them to influence the nation for Christ.”

James Watt (Secretary of the Interior)

“We don’t have to protect the environment, the Second Coming is at hand.”*

*Secretary of the Interior in the Reagan Admin. Responsible for National Policy regarding the Environment

Jay Grimstead (Coalition on Revival)

“We are to make Bible-obeying disciples of anybody that gets in our way.”

Jerry Falwell (1933 – 2007)

“We’re fighting against humanism, we’re fighting against liberalism…we are fighting against all the systems of Satan that are destroying our nation today…our battle is with Satan himself.”

“AIDS is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals. To oppose it would be like an Israelite jumping in the Red Sea to save one of Pharoah’s chariotters.”

“The Bible is the inerrant … word of the living God. It is absolutely infallible, without error in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as well as in areas such as geography, science, history, etc.”

“AIDS is not just God’s punishment for homosexuals; it is God’s punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals.”

“If you’re not a born-again Christian, you’re a failure as a human being.”

Jesse Helms (Sen. R-NC)

“The New York Times and Washington Post are both infested with homosexuals themselves. Just about every person down there is a homosexual or lesbian.”

“All Latins are volatile people. Hence, I was not surprised at the volatile reaction.”

“Your tax dollars are being used to pay for grade-school classes that teach our children that cannibalism, wife-swapping and murder of infants and the elderly are acceptable behavior.”

“Homosexuals are weak, morally sick wretches.”

Jimmy Swaggart (Jimmy Swaggart Ministries)

“The Media is ruled by Satan. But yet I wonder if many Christians fully understand that. Also, will they believe what the Media says, considering that its aim is to steal, kill, and destroy?”

“Sex education classes in our public schools are promoting incest.”

“Evolution is a bankrupt speculative philosophy, not a scientific fact. Only a spiritually bankrupt society could ever believe it…Only atheists could accept this Satanic theory.”

John Ashcroft (Attorney General)

Civilized people – Muslims, Christians, and Jews – all understand that the source of freedom and human dignity is the Creator.”

John Whitehead (Rutherford Institute)

“The [Supreme] Court, by seeking to equate Christianity with other religions, merely assaults the one faith. The Court in essence is assailing the true God by democratizing the Christian religion.”

Joseph McCarthy (1908 – 1957)(Sen. R-WI)

“Today we are engaged in a final, all-out battle between Communistic Atheism and Christianity.”

Joseph Morecraft (Chalcedon Presbyterian Church)

“Nobody has the right to worship on this planet any other God than Jehovah. And therefore the state does not have the responsibility to defend anybody’s pseudo-right to worship an idol.”

Joseph Scheidler (Pro-Life Action League)

“I would like to outlaw contraception…contraception is disgusting – people using each other for pleasure.”*

*I get the distinct impression that Mr. Scheidler’s poor wife isn’t guilty of feeling any pleasure…

Kay O’Connor (Kansas Senate Republican)

“I’m an old-fashioned woman. Men should take care of women, and if men were taking care of women today, we wouldn’t have to vote.”

Keith A. Fournier (Catholic Way)

“We need a legal strategy which protects the rights of those of us who hold Christian convictions which will afford us the opportunity to contend once again for the mind of this culture.”

Laura Schlessinger

“I want to coin a phrase here, and I don’t mind help. What would be the communication version of “ethnic cleansing?” Because that’s what in particular the homosexual activists try to do.”

Lester Roloff (1914 – 1982)(Texas Homes for Wayward Youth)

“Better a pink bottom than a black soul.”*

*Roloff opened a chain of homes for “wayward” youth in the state of Texas; he was later jailed in 1973 and again in 1975 for child abuse due to the punitive punishment techniques used in his homes. He would have been finished had he not of been specifically given permision to re-open his homes by, you guessed it, Governor George W Bush.

Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin

“George Bush was not elected by a majority of the voters in the United States, he was appointed by God.”

Pat Buchanan (Presidential Candidate)

“Our culture is superior. Our culture is superior because our religion is Christianity and that is the truth that makes men free.”

“There were no politics to polarize us then, to magnify every slight. The “negroes” of Washington had their public schools, restaurants, bars, movie houses, playgrounds and churches; and we had ours.”

“Rail as they will about ‘discrimination,’ women are simply not endowed by nature with the same measures of single-minded ambition and the will to succeed in the fiercely competitive world of Western capitalism.”

Pat Robertson (Christian Coalition)

“The Islamic people, the Arabs, were the ones who captured Africans, put them in slavery, and sent them to America as slaves. Why would the people in America want to embrace the religion of slavers?”

“Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It’s no different…More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history.”

“When lawlessness is abroad in the land, the same thing will happen here that happened in Nazi Germany. Many of those people involved with Adolph Hitler were Satanists, many of them were homosexuals – the two things seem to go together.”

“The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians.”

“You say you’re supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense, I don’t have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist.”

“I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that’s the way it is, period.”

“[Homosexuals] want to come into churches and disrupt church services and throw blood all around and try to give people AIDS and spit in the face of ministers.”

“[Planned Parenthood] is teaching kids to fornicate, teaching people to have adultery, every kind of bestiality, homosexuality, lesbianism – everything that the Bible condemns.”

Patrick Mahoney (Christian Defense Coalition)

“It is deeply troubling to have an appointed, unelected commission remove an elected official from office [Roy Moore]. The Court of Judiciary has overturned an election and crushed the democratic process through their actions.”*

*Interesting perspective coming from someone whose President was appointed by a group of “unelected judges”, thus overturning a democratic election.

Paul Cameron

“I think that actually AIDS is a guardian. That is I think it was sent, if you would, about forty years ago, to destroy Western civilization unless we change our sexual ways. So it’s really a Godsend.”

“Homosexuality is a crime against humanity.”

“Causes of homosexuality include: ’sex with animals’”*

“Unless we get medically lucky, in three or four years, one of the options discussed will be the extermination of homosexuals.”

*Paul Cameron was discharged from the American Psychological Association, the Nebraska Psychological Association, and the American Sociological Association due to his unethical practices and biased research regarding Homosexuals. His “research” has since been discredited by the scientific community; however his work is still referenced by many fundamentalist organizations as credible.

Randall Terry (Operation Rescue)

“I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate isgood…Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a biblical duty, we are called by God to conquer this country. We don’t want equal time. We don’t want pluralism.”

“Our goal must be simple. We must have a Christian nation built on God’s law, on the ten Commandments. No apologies.”

“I don’t think Christians should use birth control. You consummate your marriage as often as you like – and if you have babies, you have babies.”

“When I, or people like me, are running the country, you’d better flee, because we will find you, we will try you, and we’ll execute you. I mean every word of it. I will make it part of my mission to see to it that they are tried and executed.”*

“There is going to be war, [and Christians may be called to] take up the sword to overthrow the tyrannical regime that oppresses them.”

*It is interesting to note that Randell Terry’s son is Gay

Jerry Vines (Southern Baptist Convention)

“They would have us believe that Islam is just as good as Christianity. Christianity was founded by the virgin-born son of God, Jesus Christ. Islam was founded by Muhammad, a demon-possessed pedophile who had 12 wives, the last one of which was a nine-year-old girl.”

Rick Santorum* (Sen. R-PA)

“If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual [Gay] sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything!”

*Now known as Rick “Santorum” Santorum

Robert Simonds (Citizens for Excellence in Education)

“As the church watches from the sidelines, the ungodly elect atheists and homosexuals to school boards and legislatures to enact policies and laws that destroy our Christian children and discriminate against Christian families.”

“Atheistic secular humanists should be removed from office and Christians should be elected…Government and true Christianity are inseparable.”

“We’ll take away their power and their money. Money comes from students. We’ll break their backs by taking 24 million kids out of the public schools.”

“Raising your children under Americanism or any other principles other than true Christianity is child abuse.”

“You do not have the right to be wrong, regardless of what any man-made or demonic charter says.”

“Democracy originated in the mind of a rational being who has the deepest hatred for God.”

“Do you realize that the only thing that gives democracy existence is sin? The absence of democracy is perfect obedience to god.”

“The best way to insure the earth is never over populated is for sensible and righteous governments to clear all forms of atheism and heresy.”

Ronald Reagan (1911 – 2004)(President of the United States)

“For the first time ever, everything is in place for the Battle of Armageddon and the Second Coming of Christ.”

Roy Moore (Former Alabama Judge)

“If they want to get the Commandments, they’re going to have to get me first.”*

“Worship With Your Vote”

*Interesting observation of the Radical Right: Judge Roy Moore commits peaceful civil disobedience by refusing to remove the Ten Commandments Monument from the Court. He is considered a Hero. Mayor Gavin Newsom commits peaceful civil disobedience by issuing same-sex marriage licenses. He is considered an Anarchist.

Rush Limbaugh

“Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society.”

“If you commit a crime, you’re guilty.”*

“There is only one way to get rid of nuclear weapons… use them”

*Seems logical enough, doesn’t it Rush?

Star Parker (Coalition on Urban Renewal & Education)

“Anybody that believes in separation of church and state needs to leave right now.”

Tony Evans (Promise Keepers)

“The demise of our community and culture is the fault of sissified men who have been overly influenced by women.”

William Rehnquist (1924 – 2005)(Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court)

“The ‘wall of separation between church and state’ is a metaphor based on bad history, a metaphor which has proved useless as a guide to judging. It should be frankly and explicitly abandoned.”

Michael Savage (Savage Nation)

“Oh, you’re one of the sodomites. You should only get AIDS and die, you pig. How’s that? Why don’t you see if you can sue me, you pig. You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage. You have got nothing to do today, go eat a sausage and choke on it.”*

This will be updated!  I am sorry to say that there are so many to add…very sorry to say!

Remembering What We Mean by Independence Day…and Why We Celebrate

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

Today is more than fireworks, BBQs, and flags.  It is even more than the recent news that Governor Palin resigned amidst widespread proclamations of a new-found independence in Alaska.  It IS about what this day celebrates, which among several principles in the Declaration of Independence – is the freedom of religion and the separation of church and state.

“What the Religious Right doesn’t tell people, and what, tragically, many Americans apparently don’t know, is that when it comes to determining what the laws of the United States mean, the only document that matters is the Constitution. The Constitution, a completely secular document, contains no references to God, Jesus or Christianity. It says absolutely nothing about the United States being officially Christian. The Religious Right’s constant appeals to documents like the Declaration of Independence, which contains a deistic reference to “the Creator,” cloud the issue and make some people believe their rights spring from these other documents.”  From Legacy Of Freedom by Rob Boston, Church and State, January, 2003

This falls under, if we (the Religious Right) repeat something often enough, it will become truth.  But these Political Dominionists not only repeatedly twist the meaning of the Constitution, they very quietly attempt to mold our laws to fit their twisting.

The Constitution Restoration Act of 2004, introduced into both houses of Congress on February 11, 2004, “includes the acknowledgment of God as the sovereign source of law by an official in his capacity of executing his office.” Katherine Yurica, author of the Yurica Report, reports on this bill that reveals the theocratic intentions of its sponsors including Rep. Robert Aderholt (Alabama), Rep. Michael Pence (Indiana), Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, Sen. Zell Miller (Georgia), Sen. Sam Brownback (Kansas), and Sen. Lindsey Graham (South Carolina).

Foes of Church-State Separation

The Texas Republican Party Platform, 2002:

Our Party pledges to do everything within its power to dispel the myth of separation of church and state.”

Christian Coalition: Speakers at the Road To Victory rally sponsored by Christian Coalition just before the 2002 elections,

“Seemed to compete with each other to say the worst things they could about this concept.” Coalition founder Pat Robertson who described church-state separation as “a lie” and “a distortion foisted on us over the past few years by left- wingers.”

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore termed separation “a fable” and insisted that the phrase “has so warped our society it’s unbelievable.”

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) upped the ante, calling concerns about church andstate “the phoniest argument there is.”

But the award for the most vicious attack goes to Joyce Meyer, the TV preacher who cosponsored the Coalition’s national meeting. Meyer lambasted the constitutional concept as “really a deception from “Satan.”

Because we have such wide-spread apathy among our electorate, even those who consider themselves “engaged and paying attention”, we have created a breeding ground for disinformation.  The facts simply play a very small role in voter perceptions.  Consequently we are stunned IF we actually learn about these attempts to chip away at our freedoms.

WAY too many Americans view the whole notion of participating in government at the most basic level as an “us and them” issue.  ”Oh, I don’t get involved in politics”, or “i don’t have time for all that”, or “They’re all a bunch of liars and criminals anyway”, and the list of excuses goes on and on.  Does it occur to them to really learn about the people who sit in positions of power over us all?  That when an incompetent, or disastrous, or religious zealot, or any other form of unfit person is elected – that we are ALL responsible whether you voted or not?

The efforts to take away the right to free religious expression – or to observe no religion at all – is constantly under attack in America by Political Dominionists.  Defending those freedoms is NOT anti-American, anti-patriotic or inspired by Satan.  Quite the opposite!  Defending religious freedom and the separation of church and state is the most patriotic American thing you can do.

Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun - “When the government puts its imprimatur on a particular religion it conveys a message of exclusion to all those who do not adhere to the favored beliefs. A government cannot be premised on the belief that all persons are created equal when it asserts that God prefers some.”

And as it stands right now, the push for theocratic dominance has become so entrenched in the Republican Party that to stand a chance of success as a GOP candidate on ANY level, you must demonstrate an alliance to the dogma of Dominionism – no matter what denomination you hale from.

Contrary to Article IV, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution which states that, “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States”, the GOP flippantly ignores this rule – cherry-picking from the Constitution much the same way it does the Bible.

Currently, you must meet the litmus test of having been “born-again” and acknowledgethe extremeevangelical version of “Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour” to be in the club.  (It never hurts to speak in tongues as a second language and plaster your cars with numerous paint-damaging “ribbon” magnets, an American flag flapping and the potpourri of fish decals or “Calvin” peeing on a Darwinian fish).

I will end with the following article I read today by a Reverend from Fayetteville, Arkansas who eloquently defends his devout faith in the Christian God, yet intelligently defends pluralism versus monotheism and how incredibly fortunate we are in a world filled with religiously dictated tyranny causing inhuman suffering to millions.

Government, Religion Don’t Mix Well

By Rev. Steve Sheely

I love my country. There is no place I would rather live. I relish the freedoms we enjoy and I am grateful for those who gave their lives, their health and their dreams so I have the freedom to write this newspaper column, vote for whoever I prefer and, most of all, worship as I choose.

In Saudi Arabia, the Islamic government has given full police power to the CPVPV (Commission to Promote Virtue and Prevent Vice). Minority Muslims and non-Muslims are vulnerable to various forms of religious discrimination and persecution.

But the examples of this problem are not limited to other nations. In our own country there are those who would prefer a similar relationship between government and religion.

This Independence Day as we celebration freedom of religion, we also celebrate freedom from religion. We cannot let our government get in the religion business. Throughout history this has been a disastrous affiliation.Any democracy, protectorate or monarchy — even a nation as wonderful as ours — will never match the mercy, redemption and holiness of the Kingdom of God. Our borders are not wide enough, our social programs are not gracious enough and our foreign policy is not redemptive enough. Uncle Sam is not the Holy Spirit. The Bill of Rights is not the word of God. George Washington is not Moses.
So we need to be proactive citizens. If the government intrudes on religious freedom or violates human rights we must take action. The ends do not justify the means in the Kingdom of Heaven or the United States. When John the Baptist encountered the “bad guys” at the Jordan River, he did not water-board them.”

“When facism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” -Sinclair Lewis

Sarah Palin may be the most visible of current-day Political Dominionist figure that was added to a long and growing list of GOP power-players and politicians, but her notoriety has caused some to take their collective eyes off the ball.

I actually want to thank her, in all sincerity, for if it wasn’t for her meteoric rise in popularity she would not have inadvertently brought light to the absurdities of extremism and what that spawns.  Had she not come on the scene, and whipped the extremists into a froth, the challenge of educating us all about the threat to our democracy would have been a much harder uphill battle.

Thank you Sarah!

More evidence of Palin’s Idea of Separation of Church & State

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Yet ANOTHER Press Secretary for Palin!  She never tires of being the first governor in Alaska to set records.  Let me introduce you to her FOURTH Press Secretary!  David Murrow…another ‘c’hristian zealot joins her staff.

And another “Promise Keeper” to boot!  (Like the morally superior Senator John Ensign)

Gov. Palin selects new spokesman

Bill McAllister forced out after less than one year

The turnover continues in Gov. Sarah Palin’s public relations staff, with her top spokesman, Bill McAllister, forced out after less than a year in the position.

Murrow said he was too busy to talk to the Empire on Friday, but earlier told the Alaska Budget Report Newsletter he began the job June 10 and is paid $103,716 annually.

Replacing McAllister is David Murrow, an author of Christian books who lives in Chugiak.Murrow is Palin’s fourth communications director, following McAllister, Rosanne Hughes and Meg Stapleton. Hughes remains in Palin’s communications office as director of external communications, while Stapleton is now working for Palin’s political action committee.

Deputy Press Secretary Sharon Leighow remains in the office, while two other deputy press secretaries have departed; Beth Leschper is now handling communications duties for the Department of Labor, and Charles Fedullo has returned to the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Murrow told the Budget Report that he owned a media production company that once did work for a Palin campaign, and is also author of two books on Christian men and church.

According to the American Library Association’s Booklist, “Murrow advocates injecting a strong shot of testosterone into the proceedings to restore the masculine spirit to the church,” in his first book, “Why Men Hate Church,” published in 2004.

In 2008 he published “How Women Help Men Find God.”

WAIT! But what about this?  ”Women are not permitted to teach men (1 Timothy 2:12)”

Interesting isn’t it that the “Church” he refers to – the evangelical, dominionist, New Apostolic Reformation, Patriarchal, Born-Again-Jesus-Is-Coming! -Church…who preaches that women are to be as submissive to their “men” as the men are to God, is asking for women to drag their poor unwilling male partners to church services?  How does this fit?

“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything” (Ephesians 5:22-24).

“Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church” (1 Corinthians 14:34,35).

I find that fascinating and perplexing.  If women who are to follow and the men are always to lead in church how are they doing that if the guys aren’t showing up?

“The more traditionally masculine side of Christianity enjoys crossing swords with hostile secular worldviews. So, as long as Christianity appeals to the emotional, therapeutic, interpersonal, relational areas, it’s not going to appeal to men as much as to women,” a Murrow colleague, Pearcey stated.

‘Many churches emphasize Jesus’ softer teachings, like his love and his desire to save, and they ignore the doctrines of sin and hell, but men dislike liberal Christianity — “a mild religion of progress and enlightenment” as opposed to a battle between good and evil”.

So if you want a guy to show up for Sunday go-to-meetin’ then you better have some war games, gun talk, hellfire and brimstone.  Throw in a little “we don’t tolerate “homos”, save the unborn – blow up the clinics, and a rally cry to raise up arms in the name of God!  And by God these boys will come a runnin’!

“Men want to expend their lives for a great cause, even if it involves risk, according to Murrow. He said that’s why the U.S. military’s “Army of One” campaign was effective. But American churches rarely teach about Christian suffering and martyrdom, Murrow said.  ”Instead, today’s Christianity is presented as an antidote to these things”, he said.

To reach men, churches should stress the cost and dangers of following Christ — including Christians’ conflict with the world, the flesh and the devil”

And we sure don’t want all that touchy-feely love and peace stuff!  Reverend “Guns and God” Pagano from Kentucky could join forces with Palin’s new-hire and franchise his Church Gun Raffle services in his Church for Men and engage those poor lost male souls that Murrow seems to identify with at such length.

Murrow goes on to say, “Touchy-feely sermons come from touchy-feely pastors. A feminized church tends to attract more “gentle, sensitive, nurturing” leadership”.

Why do you suppose they think this is contrary to the teachings of Christ?  It is frightening to have such blatant repudiations of Christ as a kind and gentle teacher and caregiver of the poor and downtrodden – to instead place emphasis on “masculine” violence, punishment, and a retributive nature of an angry and warlike God.

“Texas for Sarah Palin.com” responded to this appointment thusly, “David Murrow is obviously a trusted friend, one who knows and understands Sarah Palin. They share an abiding faith in the Lord”.  That is their litmus test isn’t it?  More Murrow…

Murrow suggests that we, “Consider Islam. It just feels more masculine. Men who practice Islam actually enhance their manhood in the eyes of their peers. There are still strong gender roles. Islam has stringent requirements, including an epic journey (haj). Concepts such as heroic sacrifice and holy war live in Islam. The genders worship separately. And compare our visions of heaven: Christians offer eternal singing, Muslims offer eternal sex!”

And I suppose in Murrow’s heaven Viagra is handed out each day with your daily bread and a nice harem. Somehow I think they are missing the point – but with that attitude he will make a real gem of an addition to the GOP gallery I discussed in an earlier post, 123 GOP! Or I am and what he is REALLY saying is that he wants the women and all their girly frills gone altogether and prefers a Manly-Man’s Church altogether….whatever!

Well there we have it!  Another wise and thoughtful choice by Sarah Palin.  Let’s see what kind of “spinning” will come out of the Guv’s office now.
