Seattle Forum Follow-up; What is it Going to Take?

Monday, August 10th, 2009

First of all, I would like to thank those who bought “TheoPalinism – The Face of Failed Extremism”, and those who took interest enough to pick up my cards with the web site address.  Your interest and support is crucial in taking the steps necessary to begin educating ourselves about the Political Dominionism and how entrenched it is in our political lanscape.  It is imperative that we not roll our eyes and dismiss the lunacy of these people who now represent the neo-conservatives in America, and hennce the Republican Party.

own worst enemyOften times we are our own worst enemies.  Let me elaborate.  As progressives, democrats, moderates and so on – we tend to intellectualize issues to death!  When it comes to taking action steps, we balk.  We are so busy being tolerant…and politically correct…that our tolerance of the GOP intolerance – is going to put us right back in the minority!

Out of the hundreds of people that came by my table with my display of “TheoPalinism – The Face of Failed Extremism”, I only sold 21 books.  I did engage many more than that in short discussions, but the overwhelming sentiment was that they weren’t interested in hearing about Palin.  There was a great deal more interest in the 2nd book, “God’s Own Party? – Keep Your Bible OFF My Ballot!”  But there was a definite disconnect and a total repulsion at hearing about who this lunatic really is, and what her role is, has been and will be in the upcoming years – whether she ever runs for elected office again or not.

My sense of frustration is not in the lack of sales because TheoPalinism is a self-published book that I see no profit from.  I wrote it as a pre-liberal definedcursor to the 2nd book and to illuminate where this wingnut sprouted from and why she is a force that we cannot just shake our heads at and ignore with a dismissive attitude.  My sincere hope for TheoPalinism is that it will introduce what a political Dominionist candidate looks like and how dangerously close we came to having one as ridiculous as Palin in the White House.

What is disheartening about the lack of interest, is that it brings to light what an uphill battle this is going to be.  I have said before that I have no interest or energy in trying to change the minds of the brainwashed sheeples in the GOP.  But, getting the attention of everyone else is no small task either.

Even Ron Reagan made a quick dismissive comment about how Palin isn’t a factor and bypassed my table without even talking to me or looking at the book.  Again, people are just not getting this.  If she never ran for office again, it is about her ‘higher calling’ and how she will be used to whip the GOP fanatics into a froth such as she is doing right now on the issue of Health Care – by throwing out despicable garbage like “Obama’s ‘death panel’, and “euthanasia’ for the elderly.

gop renewalIt is about holding onto our seats in local, state and congressional elections NEXT YEAR!  2010!  THAT is what I am concerned about.  2012? Sure!  But right now it is about the millions of right-wing fanatics that hang on her every word who will show up in any weather, at any time of the day or night, across America to hear this insanity that she has to regurgitate.  It doesn’t matter what we think of her, it matters that she is like a gasoline hose dousing these tea-bagging republicans with hate and misinformation that is dangerous.

Fortunately Bill Press and Mike Malloy were genuinely intrigued (and I will follow up with them this week) – and to some degree Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartmann exhibited a modicum amount of interest.  But none of them were interested enough to buy the book.

So I need your help.  We need to tell our fellow “progressives” that it is playing right into their hands to turn our backs on learning not only about Palin, but Bachman, Huckabee, Jindal, Pence, Gingrich, and the list goes on.  TheoPalinism was intended to highlight their “poster gal”…but she is by NO means the leader of the pack.  We need to take a play right out of their book and fight back.

The dumber Palin comes across, the less we take her seriously, and the more dangerous she becomes.  If you have any doubts about that…just keep watching her as the weeks and months slip by toward the 2010 elections.  Meanwhile, I am now charged even more to complete my draft manuscript of “God’s Own Party?” and get it in the capable and really pissed off hands of Frank Schaeffer so that he can walk it into his NY publisher.  For those of you not so familiar with him, and those who are but may have missed it – here is his interview with Rachel Maddow from the other night.  With Frank’s endorsement (and those of many more) the 2nd book will draw the attention we need to get this message out in the same way that Jeff Sharlet’s book “The Family” is finally going viral.

So I will work on that as well as continuing to post articles here, and welcome some upcoming speaking engagements – and hopefully we will turn our own people around so that we don’t have to fight resistance from within on top of these extreme manipulative fanatics.

Palin’s Sense of Duty to a “Higher Calling” – IS the Answer!

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Sometimes the obvious escapes us while we are busy digging deep in adrenalin-rushed excitement over the possibility of shocking revelations. There is a flurry of speculation by pundits, bloggers, supporters, and MSM (that includes YOU FOX News) over the reason(s) behind why Sarah Palin resigned her position on July 3rd, 2009 as Governor of Alaska.  After careful reading of her speech and the July 4th letter to her supporters, I am convinced that the answers are all there.

Follow my hypothesis:

Palin has made a very strategic and amazingly clever move that actually makes sense if you understand her underlying motivation and ultimate goals.  Her decision to NOT run for re-election was predictable given her future aspirations and where she and many others see her role in the Republican Party.  I think many of us saw that coming for quite some time now.

Where she absolutely took most of the world by surprise was tendering her resignation.  But talk about an attention getter!  If you wanted media exposure to convey a message, it would be hard to surpass the strategy behind this move.  Bravo!  And then top it off with a poke in the sides of the bloggers that hounded her and distract the real basis for this decision even further!

Her reasoning is clearly articulated if you simply read what she said and stop looking for more:

The following are excerpts from her speech announcing her resignation on July 3rd, 2009

Alaska’s mission – to contribute to America. We’re strategic in the world as the air crossroads of the world, as a gatekeeper of the continent. Bold visionaries knew this – Alaska would be part of America’s great destiny.

Productive, fulfilled people determine where to put their efforts, choosing to wisely utilize precious time… to build up.

And there is such a need to build up and fight for our state and our country. I choose to fight for it! And I’ll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and life… I’ll work for and campaign for those proud to be American, and those who are inspired by our ideals and won’t deride them.

I will support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the right reasons, and I don’t care what party they’re in or no party at all. Inside Alaska – or Outside Alaska.

My choice is to take a stand and effect change – not hit our heads against the wall and watch valuable state time and money, millions of your dollars, go down the drain in this new environment. Rather, we know we can effect positive change outside government at this moment in time, on another scale, and actually make a difference for our priorities – and so we will, for Alaskans and for Americans.

I do not want to disappoint anyone with my decision; all I can ask is that you trust me with this decision – but it’s no more “politics as usual”.

Some will question the timing. Let’s just say, this decision has been in the works for awhile…

[People who serve know]…life is short so they choose to not waste time. They choose to be productive and to serve something greater than self… and to build up their families, their states, our country.

Remember Alaska… America is now, more than ever, looking North to the Future. It’ll be good. So God bless you, and from me and my family – to all Alaska – you have my heart.

And we will be in the capable hands of our Lieutenant Governor, Sean Parnell. And Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will assume the role of Lieutenant Governor. And it is my promise to you that I will always be standing by, ready to assist. We have a good, positive agenda for Alaska.

In the words of General MacArthur said, “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”

And now excerpts from Governor Palin’s “Happy 4th of July from Alaska!” letter to her supporters:

“I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most.

I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness!

God bless you! And I look forward to making a difference – with you!

Sarah”

This is a rallying cry!  She is not kidding when she states that she is not retreating – but advancing.  Once the decision was made by herself and other contributors to her decision as to how to best utilize Palin’s extraordinary popularity to advance the power and resurgence of the GOP, resignation was the ONLY option that makes sense for the following reasons – because she is now free to traverse this country unencumbered by official duties AND:

  1. Excite and ignite her base – a base broader than that solely of the GOP, bringing together extremists, Libertarians, Constitution Party members as well as GOP loyalists – all under one umbrella in a way that no other republican candidate has been able to achieve to date;
  2. Because of her “rock star” popularity she is an invaluable asset to the floundering Republican Party as a fundraiser for the GOP (whether Mitt, Newt, Huckabee or any of the rest of the presidential hopefuls care to admit it through clenched teeth);
  3. They can capitalize on her ability to generate untold numbers of evangelical extremists to register to vote significantly increasing the likelihood for success in local and national elections;
  4. And, while everyone debates over “will she/won’t she” regarding 2012, the GOP strategists are winding her up to let her go on the 2010 campaign trail in an all out effort to dominate local, state and congressional seats – by riling the masses into a pitched fervor through propaganda over Obama = Bad! Using all the scare tactics and fear-mongering popular in GOP campaigns such as Muslim, socialism, debt, non-aggressive defense posture, and the terrorism threat to the safety of our country;
  5. And THEN lastly, it does give her time to consult with the religious ghost-writer assigned from Zondervan [Christian] Publishing to meet her contract obligation for her upcoming book release in Spring of 2010…which is an incredible tool that will have tremendous impact on growing her followers when she does in fact, decide to throw her harpoon into the presidential race of -2012.____________________________________________________________________
Understand this…she is a devout believer in her role in the “Great Commission”.  Therefore, to stay on as a “lame duck” governor really does NOT make sense in terms of furthering the GOP goal of taking back the majority in Congress, and do what they have done best since 1976 – ramp up campaigns from school boards to city councils/assemblies to state legislatures to U.S. Congress – and ultimately 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Guv Rick Perry is Palin in a Guy Suit…

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Let’s support secession of Texas and make a new sovereingty – and call it “TexAlaska”!  It could be the paranoid’s new FEMA Camp!  All the “teabaggers”…ooops! NO!  That wouldn’t work, those are gay men!

Ummm…okay, just the gun totin’, Bible thumpin’, racist bigots who seem comfortable in engaging in any vile behaviour and threats against anyone who disagrees with them – all in the name of GOD!

I have no problem with them joining forces and creating their own country where they can establish the dominionist nirvana that they seek.  But then we would have to wall them off, and I am not talking a virtual wall…I am talking a new “China Wall”.  A bullet proof China Wall.

It’s perfect isn’t it?  Their Dominionist clergy such as Pastor Haggee and Joel Osteen, et al are already there, the Bush dynasty, Big Hair Republican women who don’t argue with their men, and lots and lots of Skoal!  And – as a BONUS, they really DO have southern accents down there!  So then, all those migrant southerners who infested the Northern climes can return to whence they came and be with their own kind…which we all know is all they can tolerate.

Governor Rick Perry…no wonder Palin flew to Texas to endorse him!  They are both products of the same nut (as it were).

Perry/Palin adminisrtation…Co-Presidents of TexAlaska…

Hey!  A gal can dream can’t she?

Global Warming? Sure! If That Means I Can “Drill Baby, Drill!”

Friday, April 24th, 2009

In an interview for the September issue of the conservative magazine Newsmax, Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, said she does not believe climate change is caused by human behavior.

A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I’m not one though who would attribute it to being man-made,” Palin said.

Faced with a trickle of reality by the effects of Global Warming, Governor Palin has done a pivot on those heels and developed a new perspective…

“The former Republican vice presidential nominee has at long last admitted that global warming is a problem, but sticks to ‘Drill, baby drill’, contending that an increase in drilling for natural gas can help curb its effects.” Posted by Samuel R. Avro on Friday, April 17, 2009

Now, she wants to increase the use of natural gas in order to replace currently used dirtier fuels to meet the goals of stemming the effects of global warming.

“Many believe that in order to mitigate these long term and systematic changes it will require a national and global effort to decrease the release of human produced greenhouse gases into the atmosphere,” she said. “However, simply waiting for low carbon emitting renewable capacity to be large enough will mean that it will be too late to meet the mitigation goals for reducing CO2 that will be required under most credible climate change models.

There is no way to achieve these goals in the next few decades without a dramatic increase in domestic natural gas and a strong effort to modestly increase domestic oil production,” Palin said. “Keeping Alaska’s OCS [outer continental shelf] lease sales, exploration, and development programs on schedule, especially in the Beaufort Sea and Chukchi Sea, is critically important to this effort.”

Oooohhhh…I get it!  If the gas line fits, change the policy!

First of all, there was such an obvious omission of “alsos”, “theres” and “therealsos” that I cannot swallow this as a true thought from Palin…but nonetheless…this does make me ponder how this is going to fly within her nepentecostal base and its leaders…such as this current statement in USA Today on the discussion of Global Warming by one of the big cheese leaders of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE)…

Rev. Richard Cizik, vice president of the National Association of Evangelicals, said one of the hurdles in getting evangelicals on board is “dominionism — the idea that God gave this to us and we can do what we darn well please,” as well as the idea that environmentalism is “liberal-leftist” or “witchy-pagan.” –By Anne Godlasky, USA TODAY

The ends truly do justify whatever the means are for this administration in Alaska!  But man!  I am getting whiplash!
