Palin Passes the Baton to “Insta-Lame-Duck” Alaska Governor Sean Parnell

If I were Sean Parnell, and I was sitting there listening to Sarah Palin describing her justification for abandoning her post as governor of the State of Alaska early – I would have been personally insulted and emasculated.

“So, we are here today at a changing of the guard. Now, people who know me, and they know how much I love this state, Buh Bye Palinsome still are choosing not to hear why I made the decision to chart a new course to advance the state. And it should be so obvious to you. (indicating heckler) It is because I love Alaska this much, sir (at heckler) that I feel it is my duty to avoid the unproductive, typical, politics as usual, lame duck session in one’s last year in office. How does that benefit you? No, with this decision now, I will be able to fight even harder for you, for what is right, for truth. And I have never felt like you need a title to do that.” -  Sarah Palin Farewell Speech July 26th, 2009 Fairbanks, Alaska

But he didn’t…and he won’t.  Sean is a Palin follower and will not man-up.  He has guzzled the dominionist kool-aid.  He is not the most dynamic personality to begin with, I have sat across the table from the man as a lobbyist and know whereof I speak.  Sean is simply and unquestioningly accepting his role, as it is being scripted for him, in their march toward their “Great Commission” mandate.  They are sincere in their belief that the End Times are at hand and that they are “chosen” to play a crucial role in these final days.  Hence, Parnell is simply a foot soldier in God’s Army to Palin’s role as the anointed Queen Esther from the Book of Esther.  I know, sounds wild doesn’t it?  It is…but they have swallowed this hook, line and sinker and will not rest in their quest to fulfil the biblical prophecy (as they interpret it).

Queen Esther PalinA little about Queen Esther: Esther had great wisdom and wise people know that sometimes timing is everything. She could not afford to ruin her one chance to save her people from a certain annihilation. It would be a tragedy of immense proportions. So much depended upon her actions!  Mordecai, earlier in the Book of Esther, had been given a place of power in the kingdom due to his trustworthiness.  The bravery of Esther saved the Jews.  Such is the eminence of Queen Esther, who will be remembered infinitely for the life she led and the role she played in saving her people through love and selfless devotion.

Is Parnell Mordecai?  Who knows…in their world anything can be created as long as they do it in the name of God.  This photo shows Parnell and Palin on stage with their evangelical leader Ed Kalnins of the Assemblies of God Wasilla Bible Church, as they receive guidance and prayer for direction.  (It is more than a bit disturbing that Senator Murkowski is there as well, although as a Catholic I cannot imagine she agrees with their interpretation of theonomy – for she would be thrown under the judgement bus along with the rest of us who are not specifically “born agains”)

Trio at WBC

Soooo…the fact that Sean did not take the microphone after his swearing in, and state with certainty that – contrary to Palin’s speech about the uselessness of the Governor’s office and position (with a mere 18 months remaining) – he would vow not to kowtow to the perceptions of being a “fill-in lame-duck”.  How is it that they deem his appointment as governor more worthwhile after just explaining what a waste of time it would be for Palin to remain?  Hmmm…it’s a conundrum of sorts, doncha think?

Yeah, it's a head scratcher, Leah. I don't want this worthless job, but here, it's good for you. And they didn't even dress properly for Parnell's inauguration. All the other people were dressed properly for this official government ceremony and her good buddy Sean Parnell's big day. What's up with that? Clearly wasn't even worth Todd putting on decent pants. That's rude.

Anyway, she kept reiterating how it should be so darn obvious that she quit so she wouldn't spend her last year as a lame duck but (1) she's quitting a year and a half before the end of her term, not a year; and (2) I believe she had until next summer to declare so that's another whole year until she would have become a lame duck and then only a lame duck for six months. So, either her logic box is broken or I fail Palin math :)

Sean didn't sound like he is going to find his balls anytime soon, but Sarah was full of bravado riding off on her high horse to her Great Commission. Yikes alive.

I cannot wait until 2010 when we can elect someone other than these whack jobs to govern the state! I have had enough of this bible thumping crap! How did it ever come to this?

They are experts at 'community organizing'. Remember that term? The one they hammered Obama on during the 2008 campaign? They really dug into the GOP in 1988, although they have been at this longer than that. We actually have documents where they lay out their strategies for taking over republican precincts one by one…and it worked! This is exactly why my fellow researchers and I are so determined to inform as many people as we can about just who they are and what drives them. They were able to pull this off because we weren't paying attention – and I count myself in this as well.

As much of a 'politico' as I am, and have always been, I myself didn't realize the depth of their organized efforts and failed to react, other than shaking my head at the number of religious right people growing in number and introducing legislation. They count on most of us doing just that. Shaking our heads and not taking them seriously. But now we must stem their tide and prevent any further gains. And that means all of us…especially pre-dominionist republicans! Help us by continuing to pay attention and spreading the word…

I hear you Anne, but that is that "home-spun" gal-pal act that her base is so proud of. Heck, it's what separates her from the "elite", doncha know! :)

I am completely paying attention. This stuff continues to get a pass. Thinking people appreciate its weirdness, but brush it off as nothing.
A lot of us were taught to be gracious and respectful of others' religion and zealousness, even when it's crazy and over the top, and even disrespectful in its delivery. That now-outdated courtesy has served the dominionists well as a porthole to push agenda and attach ideology onto everything.
The obvious dominionist flavor to Parnell's inauguration is disturbing. Followed by meeting with 60 preachers the next day.

    Oh dear.

There seems to be a transition from Queen Esther to Deborah. An excerpt from an anonymous blog comment:

" 4 Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading [a] Israel at that time. 5 She held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came to her to have their disputes decided. 6 She sent for Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, "The LORD, the God of Israel, commands you: 'Go, take with you ten thousand men of Naphtali and Zebulun and lead the way to Mount Tabor. 7 I will lure Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his troops to the Kishon River and give him into your hands.' "

  7. Khione Says:

8 Barak said to her, "If you go with me, I will go; but if you don't go with me, I won't go."

9 "Very well," Deborah said, "I will go with you. But because of the way you are going about this, [b] the honor will not be yours, for the LORD will hand Sisera over to a woman." So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh, 10 where he summoned Zebulun and Naphtali. Ten thousand men followed him, and Deborah also went with him. "
    -Judges 4: 4-10

  8. leahburton Says:

Yes, it is true that there have been references to Palin being compared to Deborah from the Old Testament as well as to Queen Esther. Good call.

Deborah did more than prophesy, she aroused a nation in the depths of despair through her fearless and unsolicited devotion to the freeing of her people. She awoke in them a driving desire to free themselves from their bondage and degradation. Her call and challenge to them was to seek God's help in delivering them from their enemy.

After having fought the enemy with words and prayer, now God told her to fight in battle.

Of course, reading about Deborah the Warrior Princess – unless you have swallowed gallons of the Palin kool-aid – is hard to process when talking about Sarah. She was known to be intelligent and articulate. Hmmmm….
